Underglaze

Painting designs with underglaze is a special part in the process.

I love adding designs to each mug. First I search for ideas in magazines, books and online. I make a sketchbook entry or print out a sheet filled with animals and plants I like.

I freehand each mug design because it gives each piece its own unique personality. Underglaze is a colored clay so it can be applied at the greenware or bisque phase.

I like to customize mugs to different events, seasons, or moods.
